Why is change so hard???

It is simply human nature to resist change, even when we know it can improve our quality of life. The problem is that although we want to change, as humans we also like to be comfortable.

Getting out of your comfort zone is necessary for growth!

In the past year, I feel like I have grown more than ever before. The growth that I am referring to is MENTAL growth. You see in order to grow you must first make a mental shift. It doesn’t matter how much we want to do something, if we don’t shift the way we think then it will be hard to change anything!  

Change Your Mind…….Change Your Life!!

So how do you change your mind? This is easier said than done, trust me I know. It’s easy to say, I’m going to lose weight, exercise more, or eat better but actually doing it takes strength and I’m not talking about physical strength. It takes mental strength, knowing what you want, having the conviction to stick with it and resiliency when obstacles arise. Just know that obstacles will arise!

Developing a strong mind will come in handy when negative self-talk starts to rear its ugly head.  Have you ever thought………..

“I Will Start Tomorrow”

Also known as procrastination! I know this one all too well. Although we may want to change, we tend to talk ourselves out of it by saying, I will start tomorrow, next week or at the beginning of the year. Why not just start today?  When this thought enters your head think about your “why”. Why do you want to make this change? Finding your why is all the motivation you need, your why is the purpose, belief or cause that drives you.

“This Is Just How I Am”

This one!! This is simply an excuse to rationalize our behavior. If everyone thought like this then no one would change ever! Everyone has the ability to change you just have to frame your thoughts to encourage the change you want.

I listen to motivational videos every morning when I am getting ready to start my day. What you do in the first 20 minutes of the day can set you up for success or failure. Starting your day off with positive messages will help to motivate you and guide your thoughts in the right direction.

“This Is Taking Too Long”

Change takes time period. When we have a goal in mind we tend to think about the finish line. Instead, break your large goal into small actionable steps, as you complete a step mark it off your list. I swear nothing feels better than checking something off my list, it’s so motivating! As long as you are taking action, you are making progress.

Rome wasn’t built in a day! Most people give up right before they are on the verge of a breakthrough. The key to change is to remain consistent, remember the quality of our life is determined by the quality of choices we make on a daily basis.

Create a plan…..stick with it……watch your dreams come true!

“This Is Too Overwhelming”

Change is hard, especially when we take on too much at once. Take things one day at a time and don’t try to think too far ahead, this will only lead to anxiety. It’s a good idea to surround yourself with individuals who support your growth and want for change.

Support is everything! No matter how much of a superwoman I think I am, I wouldn’t make it without the support of my family and friends especially my husband….Love you boo!!

My final words of advice….you don’t grow from being comfortable, so get uncomfortable and get ready to embrace change!
